WPSC

Advisers will help the Founders in various fields of knowledge related to window preservation. There will be 25 to 30 Advisers. Advisers will review and comment on the drafts of the standards here at the website. Advisers can attend the Summit, although attendance is not mandatory.

Advisers include:
• Independent Trades people, who will be working to meet these standards
• Contractors who will be working to meet these standards
• Educators and trainers
• Specifiers
• Architects
• Facilities managers
• Homeowners and building owners, who hire contractors and trades people
• Staff and officials from government agencies non-profit organizations

Advisers understand that comments, ideas and images they submit to the Collaborative may appear at the website and be used in the drafts and final version of the Standards.

Advisers are invited by the Founders to participate.

Dave does full rehabilitation of period wood and steel windows, and in the past ten years has become an advocate of whole building energy efficiency and sustainability and has many contacts in those fields. Dave teaches many window workshops and has been co-instructor at one of John Leeke's window training sessions and is up to speed on whole house energy efficiency issues. He has two innovative weatherstripping techniques he will bring for consideration at the Summit.

Marc has been restoring windows for over twenty years and worked on modern windows before that. Marc is the innovator of the steam cabinet method of deglazing and paint removal. Considering Marc's long-time involvement with windows, he comes to the Standards project as a "generalist" to comment on the differences and similarities of the procedures used in our various shops; and also advising as a specialist on steam deglazing.

Steve Swiat

Steve is a skilled woodworker and has been restoring windows for several years. He brings his special knowledge on the method of part-by-part replacement and the making of replacement parts.

Steve Hartley
Steve has a decade of experience restoring buildings in Philadelphia and Georgia and is director of the historic preservation program at Savannah Technical College, which is strong in the preservation trades. Steve wants to use the Standards in his classes and is advising on how to bring the Standards into academic programs.

Robin is the Southern Delaware Field Representative for Preservation Delaware, She is advising on the special needs of local preservation commissions and how those needs can be served by the Standards. Robin is on the board of the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions and helps spread the word about the Standards to commissions all across the land.

Steve Schoberg here! I am co owner of Schoberg Restorations Inc located in Plymouth, Indiana. (Northern Indiana) We have been restoring windows in our area since about 2000. My back ground is carpentry and I was in business at one time selling vinyl replacement windows (I know, Yuck) My partner is Jeff Schoberg (my son).

We are pretty pasionate about preserving, restoring and using original windows. We not only restore original windows but also make custom wood storms with either fixed glass or inside removable screen and glass inserts (non self storing style)

Our scope of past work includes residential as well as comercial projects. We can handle and have handled up to a 300 window restoration project. We have learned very much from Bob Yapp and from John Leeke's forum. With the experience we have we know what works and what doesn't and we're eager to learn more.

This project is exciting and is an industry changing event. We are glad to be a part.

Steve Schoberg has been accepted as an Adviser for the Standards project.

Steve, I know you have a lot to offer about wood windows, but your past experience in vinyl window sales is unique among us "putty heads" and your insight on how the vinyl pirates think and how that industry operates could be very very valuable to the Standards project.

I have been involved in the industry since the late 70’s from CM & GC work to full hands on restoration. My projects have consisted of a few dozen windows to over one hundred at a time. The present project I am working on at the University of Virginia has roughly 50 windows that we have restored as part of our overall project.
