Word is spreading on the debate of restoration vs replacement. Here's one from Oregon newspaper.

http://djcoregon.com/news/2012/05/09/co ... -replaced/

I found it in the Journal of Light Construction (JLC) online newsletter which has contractor and DIY audiences.

Please post other relevant articles here. We need to build references to support WPSC's goals and future publicity.

Here is a listing of the articles:
(most recent first, starting May, 2012. For earlier article go here: viewforum.php?f=12)

6/2012, "Changing Styles" article by Gordon Bock in Traditional Building with an update on the Window Standards project (requested by the author and editor, provided to the editor by John Leeke):

Many preservationists have argued that historic windows can be made at least as energy efficient as replacements in a cost-effective manner, but they lacked data to verify their claims. Now a group called the Preservation Trades Network has stepped forward with a set of standards for historic window repair, restoration and weatherization, as well as the first definitive energy testing data.

I agree, please post messages here and let us know about articles you see.

OK Catherine, let's collect all the article with links to where they appear on the internet, right in your message above. You can click on the "edit" button at the bottom right to add an article to your list.

(As administrator of this board I can edit your message, so I have added a recent article, and will add more as I come across them.)
